Drishyam: The Conclusion brings Vijay Salgaonkar back for what is positioned as the final chapter of the popular Bollywood crime-thriller franchise. Directed by Abhishek Pathak and written by Aamil Keeyan Khan, Abhishek Pathak and Parveez Shaikh, the film continues the story established by Drishyam (2015) and Drishyam 2 (2022). However, unlike its predecessors, this installment is based on an original Hindi screenplay rather than another adaptation of a Malayalam original.

The biggest challenge here is obvious: how do you create suspense when audiences already know Vijay's ability to stay several steps ahead? The film's answer is to introduce a new opponent and gradually raise the pressure.

Jaideep Ahlawat Raises the Stakes

Jaideep Ahlawat enters the story as Rajveer Tomar, a determined police officer convinced that he finally has enough evidence to break Vijay's carefully protected world. His arrival gives the narrative a fresh cat-and-mouse dynamic, with Rajveer refusing to repeat the mistakes of the officers who came before him.

Ahlawat brings plenty of authority to the role. His confidence and intimidating screen presence make Rajveer a formidable adversary, although some of his dialogue-heavy moments occasionally feel excessive. Still, his confrontations with Ajay Devgn provide some of the film's strongest dramatic sequences.

Ajay Devgn Remains the Heart of Drishyam

Ajay Devgn once again gives Vijay Salgaonkar a quiet intensity that works beautifully for the character. Instead of using long lectures, Devgn uses controlled body language and facial gestures to convey Vijay's calculations.

One of the franchise's biggest assets is still its restraint. Vijay's decisions are morally complicated, yet Devgn's performance makes his desperation understandable. His chemistry and tense face-offs with Ahlawat keep the central conflict compelling.

Tabu and Rajat Kapoor add further weight to the investigation, while Shriya Saran, Mrunal Jadhav, Ishita Dutta, Prakash Raj, Saurabh Shukla and Kamlesh Sawant contribute to the expanding ensemble. Sawant's Gaitonde continues to be a particularly dependable presence.

Smart Twists Keep the Suspense Alive

The screenplay does not attempt to completely reinvent the Drishyam formula. Instead, it relies on reversals, hidden information and carefully timed revelations to maintain uncertainty. Some developments feel cleverly constructed, while others are slightly too convenient.

The film becomes particularly engaging when it explores Vijay beyond his image as a clever family man. Questions about whether his relationships are purely genuine or also strategically useful add an interesting layer to his character.

A Satisfying Finale That Runs Too Long

At around two and a half hours, Drishyam: The Conclusion takes its time building toward its final act. The gradual escalation works for much of the runtime, but the film becomes noticeably stretched toward the conclusion. A tighter edit could have made the final stretch more impactful.

Even so, the payoff delivers enough tension and satisfaction to make the journey worthwhile. The film understands that the audience is not simply watching to discover whether Vijay can escape again—they are watching to see how he will do it.

Final Verdict

Drishyam: The Conclusion does not radically change the franchise's formula, but it knows why the formula worked in the first place. Strong performances from Ajay Devgn and Jaideep Ahlawat, steady suspense, and several effective reversals make this a crowd-pleasing conclusion.

The pacing could have been sharper, but the film succeeds where it matters most: it keeps the audience invested in Vijay's impossible game until the final stretch.

Rating: 7.5/10
