Veteran Bollywood actor Nana Patekar has died at the age of 75 after suffering a cardiac arrest in Goa. The acclaimed actor, known for his powerful performances and distinctive screen presence, passed away on October 8, 2026, leaving the Indian film industry in mourning.
Nana Patekar Dies After Medical Emergency in Goa
Nana Patekar was reportedly at his residence in Dona Paula, Goa, when he experienced severe chest discomfort and suddenly became unconscious. He was subsequently taken to Manipal Hospital for emergency treatment.
Doctors attempted to revive the actor for around 45 minutes, but he could not be saved. A medico-legal investigation was initiated following his death, with a post-mortem examination also expected as part of the formal procedure.
The news of his sudden passing has shocked fans and colleagues, particularly because of his enduring presence in Indian cinema.
Actor’s Final Rites to Take Place in Pune
Nana Patekar’s final rites are scheduled to take place at his farmhouse in Donje, Pune. The funeral is expected to be held in the evening with state honours.

Nana Patekar’s Remarkable Bollywood Career
Born Vishwanath Patekar in Maharashtra in 1951, Nana Patekar entered the film industry in the late 1970s. He made his film debut with Gaman in 1978 and gradually established himself as one of Hindi cinema’s most respected performers.
His career included acclaimed films such as Parinda, Prahaar, Krantiveer, Agni Sakshi, Ab Tak Chhappan, Welcome and Natsamrat. His ability to move between serious dramas, action films, social stories and comedy made him one of the most versatile actors of his generation.
Patekar was also recognised with three National Film Awards for his work in cinema. In 2013, he received the Padma Shri, one of India’s highest civilian honours, for his contribution to the arts.
