Forgotten Island (2026) [Movie Review] — A Magical Adventure with a Heart

Forgotten Island is the kind of animated fantasy that understands how to make imagination feel meaningful. Directed and written by Pratim D. Gupta, the 2026 movie combines comedy, adventure, folklore, and emotional storytelling into a colorful journey that works for both younger viewers and adults. With a strong voice cast featuring Tota Roy Chowdhury, Anirban Chakrabarti, Shantanu Maheshwari, Raima Sen, and Ziaul Faruq Apurba, the film creates a lively world where every strange creature and magical discovery serves a larger emotional purpose.

Rated 7.5/10, Forgotten Island stands out because its fantasy elements never completely overshadow its human story. At its center is a friendship that gradually changes as childhood gives way to adolescence.

Friendship at the Heart of the Story

The emotional strength of Forgotten Island comes from its two young protagonists and their unusually strong bond. Their friendship begins innocently but becomes much deeper as they grow older. However, growing up also brings difficult realities, including changing ambitions, separation, and the fear of being left behind.

One character dreams of pursuing a bigger future, while the other struggles to accept that their familiar world may soon change. This gives the movie an emotional foundation that feels surprisingly mature for a family-oriented animated adventure.

Rather than presenting friendship as something that must remain exactly the same forever, the film explores how relationships naturally evolve. That theme gives the fantasy adventure genuine emotional weight.

When Reality Turns Into Fantasy

The story takes an entertaining turn when the friends find themselves connected to a mysterious island surrounded by folklore and supernatural creatures. What begins as an exciting adventure gradually becomes a journey of discovery, forcing them to confront both external dangers and their own fears.

The island itself is one of the movie's biggest attractions. Its colorful environments, unusual creatures, and imaginative mythology give Forgotten Island a distinctive identity. The film knows when to be playful and when to introduce darker or more mysterious elements, creating a tone that keeps the adventure unpredictable.

Animation and Creative Energy Shine

Visually, Forgotten Island embraces a vibrant animated style that matches its fantastical setting. The filmmakers fill the screen with imaginative character designs and energetic sequences without allowing the spectacle to completely overwhelm the narrative.

The supporting creatures also add considerable humor. Their personalities create several amusing moments, while their relationships with the central characters help the world feel more alive. The combination of comedy, folklore, adventure, and emotion gives the film a broad appeal.

A Surprisingly Emotional Message

What makes Forgotten Island more than a simple fantasy adventure is its understanding of growing up. The movie recognizes that losing the closeness of a friendship does not necessarily mean losing the friendship itself. People change, circumstances shift, and distance can alter relationships—but those changes are part of life.

That message is presented with enough warmth to avoid becoming overly sentimental. Instead, the film allows its characters to experience confusion, fear, joy, and acceptance naturally.
