Jeevan Bheema Yojana (2026) [Movie Review] — Arshad Warsi Leads a Chaotic Crime Comedy

Abhishek Dogra’s Jeevan Bheema Yojana takes a potentially entertaining idea—an insurance scam complicated by mistaken identities, stolen diamonds, and a dangerous criminal gang—and turns it into a compact Bollywood crime comedy. The premise has enough twists to fuel a clever farce, and the cast clearly understands the comic potential. However, the screenplay struggles to maintain the same momentum throughout its runtime.

Jeevan (Arshad Warsi) is drowning in debt and decides to fake his own death with his wife Yojana (Sanjeeda Sheikh). The couple replaces Jeevan’s body with that of his lookalike, Bheema, hoping to collect a ₹2 crore life insurance payout.

The plan initially appears surprisingly straightforward. But Bheema has a dangerous past. He was a diamond smuggler working for the intimidating Vinayak (Vijay Raaz) before stealing diamonds from him. Soon after the fake death, Vinayak and his associate Manu (Brijendra Kala) arrive at Jeevan and Yojana’s home looking for the missing loot.

What follows is a tangled game of deception where nobody seems completely certain about who is alive, who is dead, and who is telling the truth.

Arshad Warsi Is the Film’s Biggest Strength

Arshad Warsi gives the movie its strongest comic and dramatic energy. As the desperate Jeevan, he effectively captures a man whose seemingly clever plan spirals completely out of control. His brief appearance as Bheema also allows him to play with the contrast between the two characters.

Sanjeeda Sheikh provides solid support as Yojana, particularly in the scenes where her character has to maintain the elaborate lie under increasing pressure. Her chemistry with Warsi feels natural, helping make the couple’s increasingly ridiculous predicament more engaging.

Vijay Raaz is another standout. He finds an enjoyable middle ground between menace and comedy as Vinayak, while Brijendra Kala adds further personality as his right-hand man. Pooja Chopra is likable as landlady Yashika, although her character feels less essential to the central plot.

When the One-Location Setup Becomes a Problem

Keeping most of the story inside a house gives Jeevan Bheema Yojana the potential to become a sharp, character-driven chamber comedy. Unfortunately, the screenplay does not always make the most of the restricted setting.

The insurance inspector’s investigation and the involvement of the police should raise the tension, while Vinayak and Manu questioning Jeevan’s identity could have created stronger comic suspense. Instead, several subplots compete for attention without receiving enough development.

There are amusing one-liners scattered throughout, but some of the crude humour feels unnecessarily inserted. The film also becomes repetitive in the middle, making certain stretches feel longer than they should.

A Predictable Climax Limits the Payoff

The biggest weakness is that the various complications do not ultimately build toward a sufficiently satisfying payoff. The mystery surrounding Bheema, the insurance money, and the hidden diamonds offers several opportunities for a memorable final act, but the conclusion remains relatively predictable.

Still, the film deserves credit for maintaining a playful spirit. Its central idea is entertaining, and the performers bring enough charm to prevent the comedy from completely collapsing when the screenplay slows down.

The screenplay could have been tighter, smarter, and more inventive, but the performances and occasional comic moments keep the film watchable.
