Karuppu is an action-drama which mixes social issues with emotions and is a commercial mass entertainer. Trisha Krishnan also puts in a good act while bringing the emotions to the story. The other cast, RJ Balaji, Indrans, and others, are good in their roles.

RJ Balaji maintains a delineated focus on commercial entertainment while handling the direction himself. Supports each action scene with an emotional moment and produces fun moments. Though at times like these, the screenplay lacked some sharpness. Some of the scenes seem dragged and take away from the overall impact.
