Om Ka Hari (2026) is a gentle comedy drama that uses an unusual six-day deadline to explore a complicated father-son relationship. Written and directed by Harish Vyas, the film follows a stubborn father and his estranged son on an unexpected journey to Varanasi. While the screenplay does not always reach the emotional depth its premise promises, strong performances and thoughtful observations about family, love, and generational differences make it a worthwhile watch.
A Father and Son Forced to Face Their Past
The story begins after Hari Prasad Sharma (Raghuvir Yadav) survives what appears to be a heart attack and becomes convinced that he has only six days left. Rather than spending his final days at home, he decides to travel to Varanasi to prepare for his death. His estranged son Om (Anshuman Jha) is reluctantly pulled into the journey.
What initially seems like a straightforward final pilgrimage gradually becomes an opportunity for the two men to confront years of disappointment and unspoken affection. Hari is a strict traditionalist who believes his son should pursue a secure government job, while Om chooses to follow his own path by opening a salon. Their disagreement reflects a familiar generational conflict, but the film suggests there is much more beneath their arguments.
Harish Vyas Finds Emotion in Everyday Family Conflicts
The first half moves at a deliberately relaxed pace, taking time to establish Hari and Om's relationship. At times, this approach makes the film feel slower than necessary, particularly because the central conflict remains relatively understated.
Still, Vyas finds value in the smaller observations surrounding the family. The film examines how parents from different generations express love in very different ways. Hari believes discipline is an essential form of care, while others around him show affection more openly. Despite their contrasting methods, the motivation is ultimately similar: wanting the best for their children.
The Varanasi setting also adds symbolic weight to the journey. The idea of cremating one's old self and returning home as a changed person becomes an effective metaphor for the transformation Hari and Om need to undergo.

The Film Gives Women Their Own Quiet Struggles
Beyond the central father-son relationship, Om Ka Hari touches upon another important family dynamic: the way women's ambitions can be sacrificed because of decisions made by men.
Hari's wife gives up her own career aspirations, while his daughter is married to a wealthy man chosen largely according to her father's priorities. These moments broaden the film's examination of traditional family values, showing that the consequences of rigid expectations extend beyond the men at the center of the story.
However, some supporting tracks, particularly Atmaram's (Jagat Rawat) storyline and the younger daughter's romantic subplot, feel somewhat forced. They occasionally distract from the emotional core instead of strengthening it.
Raghuvir Yadav and Anshuman Jha Lead a Strong Cast
The performances are easily the film's biggest strength. Raghuvir Yadav brings considerable warmth and comic timing to Hari while convincingly portraying his stubbornness and old-fashioned beliefs. His character's attempts to secure a government job for Om are both amusing and revealing of his generation's definition of success.
Anshuman Jha is equally effective as Om, capturing a son who genuinely cares for his father while carrying years of frustration and disappointment. Soni Razdan, Ayesha Kapur and Shivani Tanksale provide solid support.

Final Verdict on Om Ka Hari
The six-day premise gives Om Ka Hari the potential for a deeply moving exploration of reconciliation, but the relatively mild nature of the father-son conflict prevents the emotional climax from having the full impact it deserves. Their estrangement sometimes feels less severe than the story requires.
Even so, the film succeeds through its performances, gentle humour and observations about family relationships. It may not fully realise the emotional possibilities of its premise, but Om Ka Hari remains a warm, thoughtful and decent one-time watch.
