Bandar (Monkey in a Cage) (2026)

The 2026 crime thriller Bandar (also titled Monkey in a Cage) centers on Samar (Bobby Deol), a once-popular television actor whose declining career and personal life take a drastic turn after his former girlfriend Gayatri (Sapna Pabbi) accuses him of rape.

Samar, an ageing performer trying to stay relevant, attempts to rebuild his life by beginning a relationship with a younger woman, Khushi (Saba Azad). However, when Gayatri unexpectedly returns and seeks to reconnect, he cuts her off and blocks her. In response, she makes serious allegations against him.

He is quickly arrested and placed inside a deeply compromised justice system that appears prejudiced against him from the outset. Behind bars, Samar endures harsh treatment and mob mentality while confronting a society that treats him as guilty before any proof. Directed by Anurag Kashyap and written by Sudip Sharma and Abhishek Banerjee, the film explores themes of cancel culture, false accusations, and a desperate struggle for redemption.
