Goldfish (2023)

Goldfish is a story about forgiveness and holding onto one’s humanity in the face of life’s inevitabilities. It explores themes of love, dementia, identity, and diaspora. As the script developed, it came to focus on the clash of two unreliable memories. With the cast’s input, the film evolved further, becoming a reflection on community and the meaning of family. The fusion of lyrics and two cultures shaped its musical tone. Supported by her neighborhood and a past she had tried to leave behind, a young woman returns home to confront her mother’s dementia and the lingering wounds of her childhood.
