Mermaid (2026)

Doug, a socially awkward man from Florida struggling with drug addiction, lives a lonely life after his divorce while sharing custody of his young daughter. Already dealing with emotional turmoil, his situation worsens when he loses his job at a local strip club, where he was responsible for maintaining the aquarium. Feeling completely hopeless, he takes his boat out into the Gulf, contemplating ending his life. At his lowest moment, however, he comes across a wounded mermaid barely clinging to survival. Taking it as a sign, Doug rescues her, brings her home, and cares for her in his bathtub, eventually naming her Destiny. As a bond begins to form between them, his secret is exposed, forcing him to go to great lengths to protect her from those who might exploit or harm her.
