Poramon 2 (2018)

Jasmine, the only daughter of day laborer Kafil Mia, tragically takes her own life one dark night after being betrayed by her lover, Kabir. As suicide is forbidden in Islam, the village of Shwapnopuri, predominantly Muslim, denies her a proper funeral and burial. With the support of Badrul Talukder, a mosque imam and a powerful wealthy villager prevent any rites from being held. Left with no other option, Kafil Mia digs a grave for his daughter on government-owned land by the river and conducts her funeral himself. Only a young boy, ten-year-old Sujan, attends, as the rest of the village shuns the ceremony. Struggling to accept his daughter’s death, Kafil Mia embarks on a search for hope and resilience amid the heart-wrenching tragedy.
