The 2017 Bangladeshi film The Cage (Khacha) follows a high-caste Hindu Brahmin family in Jessore, East Bengal, as they attempt to trade their ancestral home for a new life in India following the 1947 Partition. The story centers on patriarch Ombujakkho (Azad Abul Kalam) and his wife Sharajini (Jaya Ahsan) as they confront betrayal and social changes over 16 years, only to come to the painful realization that it is too late to abandon the life they have long been rooted in.
