The Dutchman (2025)

Clay, a wealthy yet emotionally unsettled Black entrepreneur, seeks couples counseling with his wife, Kaya, hoping to repair their strained relationship. However, their enigmatic therapist proves to be far from ordinary, unsettling Clay by turning up in his life beyond the therapy room. During a late-night ride on a New York subway, Clay meets Lula, an alluring but menacing white woman whose presence begins to destabilize everything he knows. As the night unfolds, Clay is forced to uncover the reality behind this encounter in order to reunite with his wife, confront his inner wounds, and make it through the ordeal alive. This modern reimagining of the 1964 Obie Award–winning play The Dutchman gives the classic story a present-day urgency, delving deeply into issues of race and identity in contemporary America.
