Amid the hardships of 1990s Iraq, where daily survival is a constant struggle, nine-year-old Lamia is chosen to bake a cake for the President’s birthday. In a world marked by fear and shortages—where even simple ingredients are hard to come by—she embarks on a determined trek across the city to find eggs, flour, and sugar. Joined by her grandmother, her close friend Saeed, and her pet rooster, Hindi, Lamia weaves through markets and encounters authorities as she pursues her task.
