As a location scout for a New York City television pilot, Sofia is tasked with discovering the ideal residential, commercial, and outdoor settings for production. Travelling through various districts, she gains access to the personal sanctuaries of complete strangers—capturing images of intimate living spaces and unique storefronts—which briefly immerses her in their daily lives as she attempts to fulfill the unpredictable demands of her bosses. Throughout a single day of these brief interactions, Sofia observes instances of fascination, openness, and subtle strain, before her assignment unexpectedly hits close to home.
